menstruation questionnaire response 64 |
how old were you when you first got your period, what was it like, and what did you know about what to expect?
I got my first period when i was 12. I wasn't expecting it; I didn;t even have pads. I knew where m mom's were and used those.
how did you feel about it, and who did you tell about it?
I didn't really care. i knew it was a part of life. It took me three days to get the courage to tell my mom; all the while i was stealing her pads from under the sink.
what menstrual product did you start with? how did you learn about it?
I started with pads. I knew about because we had watched the movie in school. We still watch it every ear in health class.
are you still using the same method to deal with the blood; what methods have you tried; which do you prefer and why?
i still use pads. I've only had my period for about a year and i don't feel the need to use tampons. but I'd use them if i had to.
do you experience cramps, bloating, soar breasts, get pimples...? - if you do, tell us about it, and also, what remedies do you use?
I get cramps and headaches. I take tylenol. It works for me but everyone's body is different. =]
do you feel emotional changes relating to where you are in your menstrual cycle? |
No I really don't. When I tell my friends i'm on my period, they are like; really you don't act moody!
how do the men in your life relate to your period, or periods in general?
The only men in my 13 year-old life are my dad and older brother. I live with only them. They have designated my upstairs bathroom as "mine" because they get creeped out by the pads in the garbage and under the sink.
this conversation makes me think....
That it is okay to talk about periods and there is nothing to be ashamed of.
