When I was hosting salons for vagina vérité, I didn’t know about Wikipedia’s take on salons:
A salon is a gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host. They are generally defined as a cultural event linked to literature, art or discussion. Historically, salons are associated with French literary and philosophical movements of the 17th and 18th centuries.
I mean the inspiring host part. I was too nervous during that phase of the project (and by that phase, I mean pretty much the entire ten years I worked on it) to count myself as an inspiring host, and had I known about this, I probably would’ve waited until my nerves calmed before trying it.
I still get nervous, but much less so with time away from the project, and missing it.
Digital discussion alone will not give us the vagina conversation we want and need to have.
Give me a little time. I’ll be restarting the vagina vérité salon again soon.
